Break or Reset Administrator password in XP
So if you have forgotten the password of your admin account in Windows XP or just want to break in the Admin account of your college or office, do not worry, you can easily do that. However, I recommend this trick only for your personal use. There are numerous ways available to do so but the best possible way is to use EBCD (Emergency Boot CD), download from here.
Procedure:
1. After you have downloaded the EBCD, extract and run “makeebcd.exe” to create an iso image for burning on the disk.
2. Set Bios to boot from the CD Drive and insert the CD created in above step. You will see the following image, type 5 to select NT password for editor (Linux-based).
3. Then press Enter in the next step to proceed.
4. Press Enter again if you don’t keep Windows on SCSI drive.
5. Select which drive contains your installation files or just press Enter to accept the default value given in the bracket. If your installation is in C: drive just press Enter.
6. Press Enter in the next step to accept default values.
7. Press Enter again.
8. To enter password, press Enter to select the default option.
9. Select the username. To enter password for Administrator just press Enter.
10. To change the password just leave it blank and change it later after login (modifying password at this step will not work).
11. Press Enter to confirm.
12. Type ‘!’ and press Enter in the next step.
13. Type ‘q’ to quit.
14. Type ‘Y’ to write the SAM files.
Congratulations the password has been reset. So just login with no password and enter yours.

hey friend i know the way you are talking about but let me also update your dictionary that the method of the safe mode you talking about will not work if the Admin acct has the Password set(i hav come across several systems with this thing in our college).
The method i gave is just perfect and takes little time.

when i boot from cd

Well this is the first time i have come across this type of problem, it could be a problem of image file. I advice you to download the software again and run the exe file in some other PC than yours and burn on to the CD.

in my collage there is no cd rom or floppy drive but they support booting via USB drive could U suggest me that Can I reset the password theough a pendrive making it bootable and how..plz…..

Hi avi,
your problem was similar to mine as there was no CD drive in my college PCs as well, lol. Here is how you can reset the password:
1. download the software from http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/cd080802.zip and read its README.TXT file.
This will solve your problem, but ensure to give the First Priority to USB in BIOS.
2. You can also see this post of mine to make the Pen Drive bootable for other purposes.

what that cd does is that it actually boots a lighter and small version of linux as basic operating system to run the password reset utility but, as of now linux doesn’t support file writing on disks with NTFS file system, so , of course these disks load the SAM file (Windows security and password management file) and successfully edits it in memory but it cannot write on to an NTFS partition, thus making it obsolete for systems installed with NTFS file systems.

hi friends..
If you wana to break password for administrator accoutt..
i have the trick to do that..
fist of all u must have the XP CD for that.
now boot form cd..
step will run…
during the installation you have to choose repair option for appropriate windows which u want to crack password..
after copying file setup will repboot. remember during restarting don’t press any key otherwise setup will start again from CD. Now setup will start from HDD,
On the GUI mode u have to press shift+f10..
then command prompt will come
then in cmd, enter the NUSRMGR.CPL
after this command user manager control box appear.. there u will have the option for changeing password.
OHHH
u changed the Administrative password!!!!!!

Reset WinXP Admin Pass with ONLY DOS
note : quotes (”) are just for highlighting the word
1. click on start, enter “cmd” and press enter
2. enter “net user” or “net users”
you will see the list of users that are created on current running os
3. type “net user” “user name” “*”
you will see that windows will now ask you to enter new password for that particular account!
magic! no any type of super user privileges needed!

If the administrator account user name is “admn” then command to change it’s password will be…
net user admn *

Hi all
This EBCD iso is for only FAT filesystem.
now a days all users are using with NTFS filesystem
This method is good when we have partition with NTFS.
Otherwise it is no useful.
I Tried with my best solution is
just go through the Windows XP cd do repair
once copied all files it should reboot then find out above status bar left side of the screen with ” Installing Devices..”
then press shift+F10.
it opens one command prompt
Type “nusrmgr.cpl”
one graphical user control panel should open
then reset or remove the password
close all windows
dont do anything until over and reboot
login as you set a new password or without password
Thats it. Its very easy thing

I tryed to download the ebcd from ur given link. When i’ve downloaded and run it it says archive corrupted. I have downloaded the ebcd from another site. When i created and burnt the cd image. I booted 4m cd. Then i pressed 5 but it failed. What can i do now ?

i am total bum right now, i have a user account and admin account but i forgot the admin password and i felt it was impossible for me to foget, AND somebody must change my password. all day, ive been googling to reset or change the admin passsword on the uer account, i mean dont have a cd to burn right now. i tried everything, safe mode still want a password, that failed, then command prompt i almost did right but dont know what to do with this below and hasnt pop up a password box yet. my computer is window vista, hp pavilion slimline PC/ordinateur[s3507 c-b]

hey all if u want to break admin password follow the procedure given below for windows xp:-
1.insert a win 98 and boot from it
2.when the cmd appear’s just give the cmd SAM.EXE(please ensure it is .exe or something else coz im not conf)
4.Than rename the sam.exe to something else
5.press alt+ctrl+del to reboot
6.remove the cd and start with xp
7.the password will be removed

Free trail Windows Password Recovery Tool—Windows Password Unlocker is highly recommended
1.Download Windows Password Unlocker from Password Unlocker Official site
2.Decompress the Windows password unlocker and note that there is an .ISO image file. Burn the image file onto an blank CD with the burner freely supported by Password Unlocker.
3.Insert the newly created CD into the locked computer and re-boot it from the CD drive.
4.After launched the CD, a window pop up with all your account names(if you have several accounts) select one of the accounts that you have forgotten its password to reset it. Just one press, you have removed the password.

It is difficult to retrieve a forgotten windows administrator password. I will reinstall my OS if i forget it. But if you don’t want to reinstall you windows OS ,you can remove the password with a windows password recovery disk.

This tool is pretty much useless with XP above SP1 (whos still on SP1!?)..when booted into the CD, it shows that the change password succeeded along with password reset attempts, but in reality it does nothing.
Found a more useful $20 big boy tool that actually works on todays systems. Dont waste your time here like I did..free tools like this rarely do what they claim.

I know a simple way to bypass windows xp administrator password when you forgot windows xp administrator password http://www.anypasswordrecovery.com/ ,it need not to reinstall windows OS,and wont loss any data,by using “Any Windows Password Recovery 3.0 “. Maybe this could help you.

I have downloaded Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 . it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista and Windows 7. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password. I Wrote it to an old 128mb USB flash drive do this. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm. It supports cd/dvd too.

When I try to install the “EBCD” it says takes a second to download then displays the error message that “Some of the file could not be created.” I then proceeded to look at the log and according to it none of the files were able to be created. I need to use this or some other way to reset the password as the administrator blocks me from downloading any type of software. Is there any way you can help?

This sounds pretty interesting. We used a similar software at my tech support job a few years ago. Called “Windows Password Key 8.0″.
