This is something I got to know and thought to share with all even though it’s not new and most of you might already know. So for all those who never noticed it, did you know iPhones and iPads have time displayed as 9:41 AM on the screen always?
If you go back to see old product launches or any product advertisement, you will now notice that Apple had purposefully showed the time on the devices like iPhone, iPad or even MAC as 9:41 AM. Every clock has time set as 10:10, then why Apple decided to set the time as 9:41? Well, there is a reason for it.
It all started back in 2007 when Apple actually launched the first generation of this revolutionary phone. The product launch started at 9:00 AM in the morning and it was 42 minutes into the launch when Steve Jobs, announce the launch of the phone and the image popped up at the big screen in the back.
Then why the time shifted from 9:42 to 9:41? This is answered by the Apple executive Scott Forestall as, the reveal of the product happens around 40 minutes into presentation. “When the big image of the product appears on screen, we want the time shown to be close to the actual time on the audience’s watches. But we know we won’t hit 40 minutes exactly. And for the iPhone, we made it 42 minutes. It turned out we were pretty accurate with that estimate, so for the iPad, we made it 41 minutes”
Well, I never knew the reason for Apple products displaying the time as 9:41 AM always, did you? [via]
