Many of us must have seen this process named msmgs.exe in the Task Manager and wondering what process is it?
On this week’s Process Information, here are the details of this process and why is it running in the computer.
What is msmgs.exe?
Msmgs.exe is a process which is registered as the W32.Alcarys.B, W32.Alcarys.G worm. The virus distributes itself mostly through the email messages and spreads when you open the infected attachment from a sender. Thus it is advised not to open an attachment if the sender is unknown to you.
Why is it running?
The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers E-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself. The worm can also allow the attackers to access the computer thereby stealing the secret information and data.
The worm should be removed from the computer as soon as possible.
Worm is a part of W32.Alcarys.B/G@mm Worm and can be located at %programfiles%\Messenger\msmgs.exe
