Sometimes it is very much required to have a tool that can split our large folders having lots of data into small folders of specified size so that it can be used for our own purpose. For example, you have a folder of size 1GB and you wish to burn a CD drive of maximum capacity 700MB. What shall you do?
You will burn the data after changing the structure and copying some files while sparing others. To rescue this situation, here is a tool called DirectorySlicer. As the name suggests, this tool can be used to split large sized folders into small sized directories without affecting its directory structure.
The biggest advantage of using this tool is that you can set the maximum amount of size it can limit. This is extremely helpful as you might need to have different sizes to different folders. Just enter the max size, and when you click on the Start button, new folders would be created each having size not more than the size specified on the tool.
Using this tool is very easy, just provide the source and target directory locations, set the size either in MB, GB or TB and click on the Start button. The tool will start splitting the folder according to the size mentioned and will create new sub folders accordingly thereby giving you an option of sending them to your friend online.
DirectorySlicer works well on all versions of Windows including XP, Vista and Win 7. The tool is free to use and can be downloaded from the link provided at the bottom.
