With our cell phones so much handy and powerful these days, people have started using phone more than laptops or computers and this is the reason why we have so many apps developing these days. Similarly, if you happen to like some video on YouTube and wish to download it in your phone, what would you do?
Well, the primitive method is to log on to computer, download the video and convert it into the phone compatible format and then transfer it to the phone or may be just use a real helpful app called as SnapPea. We have also written about this app earlier, as on the Windows, it can be used to manage your android phone too (link here). Continue reading “Download YouTube Videos on your Android Phone easily”
Privacy is one thing that we all should consider these days. We should avoid posting our own photos online and if we need to do that, then we should not make them visible to the world. Our phone also has lots of data today and thus we should protect that from the spying eyes.
Although there are lot many apps that you can use for this purpose, I bumped into one app which I liked a lot when compared to others. This app is called Super AppLock and is available for free to the Android users in the Play store. Continue reading “Super AppLock lets you Password Protect any App on your Android”

Our smartphones are so smart that we don’t even need a computer to perform our daily tasks and when combined with the support of WiFi, it can do lot many activities. While using WiFi on the phone is very easy and simple, the only thing is that it consumes lot of battery when connected to the WiFi.
Therefore, it becomes very important for the users to enable or disable the WiFi on the smartphones. While we can do this manually, there are occasions when we forget to turn it On or Off. Say you are leaving your home and forget to turn the wifi off, then your phone will consume the phone battery unnecessarily trying to scan the networks. These days our smartphones are very powerful and feature packed that it has got lot many features. The phone is not just a phone, rather it’s a device using which we can also capture moments as photos or videos, record sounds, use webcam and other things. While our phones have got a toggle switch to turn off the sound it has nothing of that sort related to the microphone on the phone.
One would say, why would someone need to turn off the mic on the phone other than the calls for which we have already got that functionality in the phone dialer. Well, there are times when you would like to disable the phone mic so that no sound gets recorded like say you are recording some video using the camera and don’t want to record any sound, you have not got anything to mute the mic in that case. Keeping our phone protected from spying eyes is very important and mostly because our phone is not only a calling device rather it keeps lot of personal information about us like our texts, photos, contacts and documents etc. Thus it is the need of everyone to keep it PIN protected.
While there are few other security measures that one can take like pattern unlock, or face detection but PIN is the simplest of all and most supported too. Here is an app (for Android devices) that can enhance the ability of your phone from just entering the same PIN again and again. It’s one of the greatest, most gladiatorial technology struggles of our time. A war of attrition between a cheeky cyborg, that knows all about that embarrassing illness you just searched for the symptoms of and a sleek super brand. A spaghetti western duel between two of the most fearsome gunslingers in computing.
In 2013, anyone with even a passing interest in technology already owns or is thinking about buying a smart phone and with the frankly well-deserved demise of BlackBerry now at an advanced stage, Apple and Android stand as the two key smart phone operating systems on the market. If you are guy who travel a lot, then you are more prone to losing your phone than the other guys. Well it’s not a criteria but anyone can lose or get their phone stolen from anywhere or anytime. There are lot many apps that you can install to keep a track of your phone and can also go for mobile insurance which the network providers provide but the reason why I am writing a post today on this is that you can keep a track of your phone without installing any app and using a service from a trusted brand called Google.
If you have a recently updated Android phone you must be having the Google Android Device Manager by default in it and this is what will keep your phone secure. The service was released in August last year and you can make use of this free service to track, lock or even erase the contents on your phone remotely. One of the many great features in Android I like is the Notification Bar. As compared to iPhone, Android devices have a notification center which allows us to see any new message, email, text or anything without opening the app itself. Also the LED notification light helps us to know if we have missed on to that.
I am not sure if all Android phones have this feature or not, but in my Note 2 there is a feature of Driving Mode, which enables the user to listen to the incoming call (the number or the name) or text when you are driving so that you don’t need to check your phone. Similar to this feature, I came across an app for the Android devices that reads out your notifications that you frequently receive so that you don’t need to check your phone again and again. WhatsApp is one of the famous and easiest communication media used today for communication across the globe. It is the ease of sending the texts, images, and videos through the same app and that too without any charge to anyone having WhatsApp on the other hand. People use it for their daily day to day communication too, and thus it becomes important to keep it private and locked to protect it from suspicious eyes.
While every phone has a feature of locking the login screen but sometimes, it becomes important to hand over our phone to someone we know like our mother, or friends. It may also happen that we forget our phone somewhere which can be accessed by someone at our back. What if you need to show some pictures to a friend and he (without asking you) peeks at your WhatsApp messages? Continue reading “WhatsApp Lock: Lock and Protect WhatsApp with a PIN [Android]”
Well here is one more alarm clock app for those of you “sleepy heads” who find it difficult to wake up every morning. We have written about one such app few days ago called as Puzzle Alarm Clock, and here is another. Are we really reviewing the alarm clock apps these days? Well there is something that needs to be discussed with you guys about this app, hence this article.
This app is called “Walk Me Up! Alarm Clock” and the most interesting feature that I liked about this app is that it really forces you to get up from your bed, walk around a bit before you are able to turn off the alarm. I guess it’s a better idea to walk some steps than solving puzzles very morning as it is the most difficult thing to get up from the bed. Continue reading “Walk Me Up! Alarm Clock for Android requires you to Walk to Stop the Alarm”
